Setting up the high elements includes climbing heights of up to 35 feet while being in a safety harness. Facilitation includes, belaying people on the high elements (Rock Walls, etc.) and leading small groups through initiatives and low elements. The EDGE staff has a unique opportunity to minister to guests in a fun and exciting way. The EDGE staff will also have opportunities to make spiritual applications through recreational activities. Experience is preferred but not a necessity. We will begin the summer with an extensive training session. Generally, we only accept returning staff, but not only previous EDGE staff.

Food Services including Dining Hall and snack shops

There are many parts that make up the Food Service Department at Windermere. All are equally important and challenging at the same time. While at most times you will not be in direct contact with the guests that come to Windermere, your behind the scenes effort means that all guests will be assured a great time, as well as providing them an opportunity for spiritual renewal to take place. At Windermere Food Services "we serve people not just food".

The Food Services is made up of four basic categories: Dining Areas, Shop Operations, Snack and Vending (Lakeside Grill), and the opportunity to serve our guests through Catering. All those who choose to work in Food Services will be challenged by working in the different areas. You will be expected to carry out the duties required to maintain a high volume food service establishment which would include cleaning, restocking, helping the cooking staff, and general customer relations. Food service staff work a variety of shifts. Some come in very early and others stay fairly late.

While some staff will have the opportunity to meet and mingle directly with the guests through working in the snack shops and vending or being a host or hostess at the greeting station of the Dining Hall, most of the Food Services Staff will go about doing the work that ensures a complete dining experience for our guests.

We believe, that if we serve a great meal that meets the needs of our guests, they will not be wondering or thinking about not eating quality food at camp and will be able to concentrate on the things that God has for them to hear and see at Windermere.

Please don't get me wrong, Food Services work is hard and long, however, the rewards are more than satisfying. Please come be apart of the best Food Service program in the Missouri area and experience what God has in store for you at Windermere.

Gift Shop

Our gift shop offers a variety of clothing items, gifts, toys and other memorabilia to our guests. Summer staffers operate a cash register, help customers as needed, do general housekeeping (dust, vacuum, straighten shelves, take out trash), set up displays, pricing and inventorying merchandise, count moneybag, fill out cash sheet, smile, secure the moneybag and lock doors at the end of day.

Housekeeping

Offering presentable, clean rooms to our guests is a high priority to Windermere. Job responsibilities include cleaning rooms, changing linens and daily laundry, and maintaining all equipment required for the job. Staff workers are also expected to maintain a clean work area, check lodges to maintain quality control, deliver linens, rollaway beds and other items to guests as requested, clean conference rooms and public areas as well as assist with all other areas as needed.

Aquatics

Lifeguard opportunities include guarding at the pool, marina and assisting with other lake areas such as the Barracuda Challenge. Responsibilities require guards to welcome, inform guests of rules, observe guests when under their supervision and enforce rules when guest activities could become dangerous. Staff hired need to already have a LG certification, with current First Aid & CPR cards, and must give Windermere a copy prior to the summer starting. Windermere has a local contact for lifeguard classes. Call Corey in Windermere Aquatics at 573-317-9867 for more information. Lifeguards will rotate from swimming pool to marina. It is expected that all lifeguard staff will swim the 300 weekly to keep up with their LGC.

Swimming Pool

In addition to lifeguarding, staff will maintain pool chemicals, clean the pool area including inside and outside the fence and the children's playground, and water flowers on the pool deck. Staff will be trained on the handling of pool chemicals and the testing/recording of pool water.

Marina

Marina duties will consist of lifeguarding waterfront activities on the lake; rental of paddleboats, hydrobikes, canoes and kayaks; handling money; selling gas; rental/sales of other items; and recording the names of guests doing activities. Staff will also keep the boat slips and surrounding area clean.

Maintenance

Windermere can only operate when things are in working order. In this position, summer staffers serve by doing grounds work, mowing and weed eating, trash removal, light duty maintenance (changing light bulbs, glue repairs and toilet problems), assist full time maintenance staff with larger projects, clean vehicles and assist the mechanic if needed. This position requires high work ethic and a hard working attitude. At this time, Windermere is only placing adults in this area.

Recreation

Beyond The Gate and other cave tours offer guests a below-ground look at Windermere and sometimes even an inward look at their own spiritual condition. Recreation staff will be the primary cave guides. In addition, Recreation staff will assist in operating the gazebo which rents miniature golf as well as other recreational equipment. At times, these staff members will assist at the Barracuda Challenge, The EDGE, the Marina and more.

Audio/Visual & Setups

Duties consist of conference rooms according to guests' request as well as set up of sound and lighting systems for conferences. You will be trained in appropriate sound audio and visual transport and operation, however, experience is preferred. There will be occasions in which you will be called upon to run sound or lighting for guests. You will be expected to help perform light cleaning and upkeep of all audio/visual storage areas, and will often be "on call" to assist guests with various duties.
