Do-It-Yourself Tour

The first 350 feet of Windermere’s cave is open 24/7 for you to explore on your own. Our path is completely paved and partially lighted to allow you a wonderful experience as you walk. We ask that you please stay on the path, the cave is a living environment, which is fragile. Things in here grow slowly, drip by drip, nutrients are added to the cave creating formation like stalagmites, stalactites, and soda straws. If you are lucky you may even see some of our cave wildlife; bats, crickets, salamanders, and frogs.

Beyond the Gate Tour

So the first 350 feet were not enough? We have the perfect solution for you, the Beyond the Gate tour! This tour takes you well beyond the original part of the cave into a winding tunnel and through three dome rooms. Prepare to get dirty as you crawl on your hands and knees all the while watching your head. You will see more formations like popcorn rocks and special sculpting clay. You may also see more of our wonderful cave wildlife in the small waterways that follow the path. In the dome rooms, depending on weather, you may get to see beautiful waterfalls coming from somewhere deep within the rocks. Before crawling back out of the cave, you will sit back and relax as you get to experience “total darkness” while hearing a short bible study.
