Dear Windermere Friends,
Recently I came across some research provided by Youth Specialties and YouthWorks. They commissioned the Barna Group, to conduct research on the state of youth ministry in America.
2. The local church attractional model is not working as in years past.Churches used to put a lot of time, talent, and treasure in buildings and programs inside the “four walls.”
3. We live in an alone culture. People driving alone to work, watching on demand media alone; reading from an iPad or iPhone alone and many singles live alone. There is a hunger for something missing – community. The best strategy for the local church is to find places for communities to bump into each other.
I found this to be very reassuring that camping and retreat ministry ranks high with youth leaders and even higher with senior pastors. I have repeatedly said that local church ministry is experiencing very difficult times.
