Ambassadors and other Friends
Windermere Baptist Conference Center
On Monday of this week, the Trustees of the Windermere Baptist Conference Center met on the Windermere campus and formally acknowledged, with regret, the resignation of John Bailey as Windermere’s President and CEO. John’s service record at Windermere has been “written” with strong management skills, a love for Windermere and an unmatched commitment to the ministry God has placed here.
For several months John has struggled with a decision as to whether or not he should accept a call back to the local church. Finally, he and Carol concluded that it is God’s will that they join the work at Mansfield, Texas. When God calls His servant, it is the right thing for all of us. We will miss John Bailey.
The Board is pleased that we have on campus a leadership staff that can step up to the challenges that always come with the change of campus wide leadership. Appropriate decisions were made which will assure continuity and a successful conclusion to the camping season.
A search committee has been appointed and has begun its work. If you, Windermere’s special friends, know of those who should be considered for the position of President, please be in touch with, The Search Committee, Windermere Baptist Conference Center, PO Box 458, Roach, MO 65787.
Please keep in mind that we will have our Fall meeting of Ambassadors on 14-15 September 2018. Joann and I plan to be on hand for this get together. I hope you will plan to be in attendance.
For the Board of Trustees
P.S. This week at Windermere we will serve 1300 plus guests. On my way out of Windermere last Monday afternoon, I observed a half dozen young boys and their leader spill out of a car with packs filled with a week’s worth of clothing, everyone smiling and ready to go. I wonder how many of this week’s guests will make decisions that will change their lives for eternity? If past experience is a clue, we will see large numbers of professions of faith in Jesus Christ and other life changing decisions. Young people will be baptized in the lake this week and potentially many will end the week and return home, changed forever. This happens every time Windermere greets a new group of campers. This causes me to pray that God will continue to bless His ministry at Windermere.
Please join me as we pray for the campers, their adult leaders and our staff who serve. Also, please pray that God will lead as we find His choice for President. May she/he be just the right person for the days ahead.
